Bombay Sandwich Recipe (Street Style Mumbai Sandwich)


The Bombay Sandwich is one of the most iconic street foods from Mumbai. It's know for spicy chutney bread, layered veggies and buttery bread (simple), quick and full of flovor.

Ingredients:

For Sandwich:

1. 6 slices of white or brown bread

2. 2 meduim boiled potatoes (slices)

3. 1 cucumber (thin slices)

4. 1 tomato (thin slices)

5. 1 small onion (optional, sliced)

6. Butter (as needed)

7. Chaat masala (1tsp)

8. Salt to taste

For Green Chutney:

1. cup fresh coriander leaves

2. 2-3 green chilies

3. 2 garlic cloves

4. 1 small piece of ginger

5. 1 tbsp lemon juice

6. Salt to taste

7. Water ( as needed)

Preparation Steps:

1. Make the Green Chutney

Blend coriander, green chilies, garlic, ginger, lemon juice, salt and a little water into a smooth paste.

This chutney gives the sandwich its signature spicy taste.

2. Prepare the Bread

* Apply butter on one side of each bread slice

* Spread green chutney on top of the butter layer

3. Layer the Filling

* Place potato slices

* Add cucumber, tomato and onion

* Sprinkle chaat masala and a pinch of salt

Cover with another slice of bread (chutney side down)

4. Toast or Serve Fresh

* You can eat it fresh (soft version)

* Or grill/toast it using a sandwich maker until crispy and golden
